This privacy policy ("Privacy Policy") covers our treatment of personally identifiable information we collect online when you access and use the NY Student Housing, LLC ("NYSH," "we", "us", or "our") website located at http://www.nystudenthousing.com (the "Website").
NYSH is a for profit organization that provides affordable housing in New York City and related services to university students and interns ("Services").
NYSH takes the privacy of your personal information very seriously and will make reasonable efforts to use your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Please review this Privacy Policy carefully.
We may revise this Privacy Policy over time in a manner consistent with applicable law and regulations. When we revise this Privacy Policy, we will incorporate the revisions into this Privacy Policy and will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this web page. If we make significant changes, we will notify you by either e-mail or by posting a notice on the Website. If we are going to use or disclose your personal information in a manner materially different from that stated at the time we collected the information, you will have a choice as to whether or not we use or disclose your information in this new manner. To apply for membership to NYSH and for housing in NYSH residences, you will be asked to provide personally identifiable information to us, such as your full name, e-mail address, phone number, address, educational and employment information, date of birth, gender, life habits and character traits, contact information for relatives, and credit card information.
To process your application, we may verify with third parties the payment and educational institution information you provide to us. In the course of such verification, we may receive personally identifiable information about you from such third parties.
NYSH's web servers automatically collect Website usage information from you when you visit the Website. Website usage information informs us about how our visitors use and navigate the Website, including, among other things, the number and frequency of visitors on each web page, their Internet Protocol addresses, the length of their stays and the actions they take (including orders).
Certain pages of the Website may use persistent and/or sessional cookies (i.e., small data files that our web servers may send to your computer when you visit the Website) to track your orders. Most browsers are initially set to accept cookies. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept it. You have the option to reject the Website's cookies and still use the Website, but you may not be able to access or use some of the features on the Website.
It is the policy of NYSH to use information collected from you only in connection with the provision of Services. Except as set forth herein, we will not sell, rent, or share your personally identifiable information to a third party mailing list or similar third party marketing service without your consent.
From time to time, NYSH works with other organizations whose products and services we think you might find interesting. Except as otherwise set forth in this Privacy Policy, NYSH will only share your personal information with such organizations on an "opt-in" basis (i.e., with your permission). Upon opting in, you may then be contacted via mail, e- mail, or telephone by such organizations.

You can request to be removed from our database by e-mailing NYSH at comments@nystudenthousing.com. If you do so, NYSH will delete your personal information from our active database following NYSH's receipt of your cancellation request, unless NYSH determines in its sole discretion that it needs to retain that information for a longer period of time to resolve disputes, troubleshoot problems, enforce this Privacy Policy or NYSH's Terms of Use, or for other valid business reasons. Please note that NYSH will not remove your historical usage information from our aggregated files when it deletes your user account.
From time to time you may receive periodic mailings and e-mail from us with information related to the Services or upcoming events. If you do not wish to receive such mailings or e-mails, please let us know by following the instructions set forth in such mailings or by e-mailing NYSH at comments@nystudenthousing.com.
Except as otherwise provided in the "Your Ability to Choose" section, we generally retain your personal information and user data on our server or in our archives for as long as we reasonably need it. We may alter this practice according to changing legal and/or business requirements. For example, we may shorten the retention period for certain data if needed to free up storage space. We may lengthen the retention period for other data if needed to comply with privacy standards or applicable law.
We encourage you to access our Website using a browser that supports secured transactions. We have taken commercially reasonable measures to protect your personally identifiable information from unauthorized access, deletion, or modification including using firewalls and password protection systems.
Our Website is not directed toward children under 13 years of age nor do we knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personally identifiable information to us.
Our Website may contain links to other sites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of such other sites. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of those sites when you visit them.
